SATURDAY FASHION DESIGN & SEWING FOR KIDS/TWEENS
COURSE OUTLINE
- Using the fashion croquis
- Fashion Illustration
- Sketching and Rendering Fabrics
- Finding Inspiration - magazines, themes
- Understanding Fabrics
- Color Coordination
- Learn basic sewing machine skills
- Sew various seams (straight, cornered, curved, etc)
- Learn proper pressing techniques
- Complete sewn project(s)
FINAL PROJECT: Each 5-week session, students design and make a different garment, accessory or bag. And, the final week will include an in-house fashion show and/or exhibit.
COURSE DURATION: 1 1/2 hour class (once per week), 5 weeks
COURSE RUNS: Saturdays 10:00am - 11:30am
Classes runs continuously throughout the year. New students can join and current students can continue to register for each 5-week session, since there are always new projects to do!

Students (aged 8 to 12 years old) lucky enough to be in this program will cultivate their creativity, build confidence, and feel a sense of accomplishment as they learn: Fashion Illustration, Fashion Design and Fashion Sewing. Each 5-week session will culminate with a finished project and an informal, in-house fashion show or exhibit! This class runs all year long. Kids can start their own collection, prepare a portfolio of work for entry into a specialized high school... or just come to have fun!
The extremely talented Daniel Mayorga studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Sacred Heart University. He also holds a degree in fashion design. Upon graduation, he interned at Kithe Brewster Inc., famous stylist to the stars. His clients ranged from Heidi Klum to Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyra Banks and the House Wives of Atlanta. Daniel is also an experienced and impassioned teacher, helping others achieve their fashion dreams.
