"BETTER THAN BASIC" SEWING CLASS  (September - October 2012)

Get step by step instructions to make your own custom fit SKIRT pattern. Then, learn to assemble your fitted skirt, installing regular or lapped zippers, clean finish seams inside, waistband, darts, interfacing, various hand stitching, hem stitching, and more…

Skills & Techniques:

•Make your own custom-fit pattern

•Sewing-machine basics

•Tools and terminology

•Stitches: Regular stitch, topstitch, basting, stitch-in-the-ditch

•Seam finishes: Zig zag, Booked Seam

•Preparing, marking, and cutting fabric

•Garment construction including fitting techniques and adjustment

•Installing regular zippers, waistbands, and interfacing

•Hemming a garment properly

Cost: $199 plus tax  (+ $25 reference/instructional manual, required)

Fabric and Supplies: To be provided by student (see list)

Course duration: 4 weeks, 3 hrs each class

Prerequisite: "Learn To Sew In A Day" Class (or equivalent experience)

"BEYOND BASIC" SEWING CLASS  (October- November 2012)

Get step by step instructions to make your own custom fit Sleeveless Top pattern. Then, learn  to assemble your Top, attaching neck and armhole facings, interfacing, understitching, darts, topstitching, clean finish seams inside, various hand stitching, hem stitching, and more…

Project: CUSTOM FIT SLEEVELESS TOP… Made by YOU, for YOU!

Skills & Techniques:

•Make your own custom-fit pattern

•Sewing-machine basics

•Tools and terminology

•Stitches: Regular stitch, topstitch, basting, understitching

•Seam finishes: Zig zag, Booked Seam

•Preparing, marking, and cutting fabric

•Garment construction including fitting techniques and adjustment

•Attaching facings and interfacing, sewing darts, clean finishing armholes and necklines

•Hemming a garment properly

Cost: $199 plus tax  (+ $25 reference/instructional manual, required)

Fabric and Supplies: To be provided by student (see list)

Course duration: 4 weeks, 3 hrs each class

Prerequisite: "Learn To Sew In A Day" Class (or equivalent experience)

"BYE BYE TO BASIC" Sewing Class  (November - December 2012)

After making your own custom fit Dress pattern, continue to hone your sewing skills learning to assemble your Little Black Dress...just in time for the holidays. Sew concave and convex curved (princess) seams, install invisible zipper, learn specialty seam finishes, pressing techniques, neckline and armhole binding,  etc.

•Sewing-machine basics

•Tools and terminology

•Stitches: Regular stitch, edgestitch, basting stitches

•Seam finishes: Zig zag, Booked Seam, Bound Seam

•Preparing, marking, and cutting fabric

•Garment construction including fitting techniques and adjustment

•Sewing curved princess seams, attaching bindings and closures

•Installing an invisible dress zipper

•Hemming a garment properly (various techniques)

Cost: $245 plus tax (+ $25 reference/instructional manual, required)

Fabric and Supplies: To be provided by student (see list)

Course duration: 4 weeks, 3 hrs each class

Prerequisite: "Custom Fit SKIRT" Class and "Custom Fit SLEEVELESS TOP" Class
